Listora or HivePress?

A lightweight, modular directory and marketplace plugin with the best ratings in the category, built from a free core plus paid extensions and themes.

  • wordpress.org rating4.9 / 5 from 218 ratings

  • ModelFree core plus paid extensions and themes

Checked on 2026-08-15 against HivePress's own site and the wordpress.org plugin API. They ship as often as we do, so treat anything here as true on that date and verify before you buy.

On price: No figure is quoted here: hivepress.io/pricing returned a 404 on 15 August 2026, so there was no page to cite. Their extensions and themes are sold individually from their site, and the honest way to compare is to total the ones your directory needs.

Their case

Where HivePress is genuinely stronger

This section is first on purpose. If a comparison only flatters the vendor who wrote it, nothing else on the page is worth reading.

  • The highest rating in this category - 4.9 out of 5 from 218 reviews. Fewer reviewers than the older plugins, but people who run it are unusually happy with it, and that is worth something real.
  • Genuinely modular. You install the pieces you want, so the footprint stays small, and a lean install is a legitimate preference rather than a compromise.
  • It reaches past directories into marketplaces and rentals, with extensions for bookings and vendor payouts, so if you are somewhere between a directory and a marketplace it may fit better than we do.
  • On wordpress.org with a public review history, so you can install and read feedback before committing. Listora is not.

Our case

Where Listora is stronger

  • More arrives before you pay. Claims, six-layer anti-spam, 11 Gutenberg blocks, 63 REST endpoints and five competitor importers are all in the free plugin, where a modular product asks you to add pieces as you go.
  • Monetization is a single designed system rather than assembled extensions: credits, plans, coupons and Hold-and-Commit activation, so a failed activation cannot leave a vendor part-charged.
  • A documented REST API in free, 133 endpoints across free and Pro, if you intend to build on it.
  • One published price for the whole feature set, rather than a total that depends which extensions you end up buying.

Which to pick

Pick HivePress if

You want the leanest possible install and are happy adding extensions as needs appear, you are building something closer to a marketplace or rental platform than a directory, or you weight a 4.9 rating heavily. All three are fair reasons.

Visit HivePress

Pick Listora if

You would rather the free plugin already did most of it, you want monetization and the API to be first-class rather than add-ons, or you want to know the full price before you start.

Free is complete and never expires, Pro starts at $69 a year, and the refund window is 30 days. Trying it costs less than reading about it.

Questions people actually ask

HivePress is rated 4.9. Why would I pick Listora?

Their rating is excellent and we are not going to argue with 218 people. The difference is what arrives before you pay: claims, six-layer anti-spam, 11 blocks and 63 REST endpoints are in our free plugin, where a modular product expects you to add pieces. If a lean install matters more to you than a full one, they are the better answer.

I need bookings. Which one?

Theirs, most likely. HivePress has extensions aimed at bookings and rentals; Listora is a directory and says so - it is not a booking engine with live availability. Pair us with a dedicated booking plugin, or use them if booking is the centre of the product.

What does HivePress cost?

We are not going to guess. Their pricing page returned a 404 when we checked on 15 August 2026, and extensions are sold individually, so the only honest comparison is to total the ones your directory needs on their site and set that against our pricing page.

Move an existing directory across.

The HivePress importer is in the free plugin, so you can run the migration and look at the result before paying anything.
