Pro runs a credit economy: vendors buy credits, credits activate listings, and a Hold-and-Commit step means a failed activation never leaves a partial charge. The credits themselves are bought through a payment plugin you likely already run.

No. It has no licence key, no expiry, and nothing that switches off after a period. You can run a complete directory with submissions, claims, reviews, faceted search and maps on as many sites as you like without paying. Pro exists for the money layer, not to unlock the basics.
Annual renews each year and keeps updates and support flowing. Lifetime is one payment for the same licence with no renewal. On Personal and Developer the site allowance is identical either way. On Agency it is not - annual covers unlimited client sites, lifetime covers three - so pick annual if you build for many clients.

Yes, but not out of the box. Both gateways are fully built in the bundled Credits SDK, including hosted Stripe Checkout, webhook verification and refunds, and both have a complete settings screen. That screen is deliberately hidden while the buyer-facing purchase flow is being finished, so you switch it on by adding one filter to your site. If you would rather not touch code, take payment through WooCommerce for now.
Yes, within 30 days, through the support ticket system. The refund clock pauses while a ticket is open, so trying support first does not cost you the window.
